The Experiment

By Connors Eilersen and Tristan Gallant

Theme: The experiment is an interactive installation that deals with the theme of human submissiveness and humanities different moral standpoints. The installation forces the participant to carefully reflect on their decisions as well as the consequences of those decisions.

Reading Response: We have chosen this style of interface because it well compliments mood and atmosphere we are trying to attain. The piece puts the user in control of what happens. As they turn the dial, different emotions and responses are portrayed through the speakers, which in turn, evoke different emotions and responses from the user. The process takes the input data from the potentiometer and turns that into a variable in processing. This variable dictates what the participant hears, and thus, how they react. Feedback through the input and output of process is not possible because of how the code reads in the data.
